Still on the drawing board . . .

One of the delights of our aesthetic world is the wonderful repertoire of architecture that spans the centuries. All cultures have contributed to the vast treasure trove; all are equally fascinating and interesting. There seems to be no end to man's imagination and ingenuity. I find special delight in discovering beautiful edifices all over the world. Here are but a few examples of my personal findings:

gaudi
olana
pueblo deco
saratoga

Other interesting sightings:

(Left:) THE ROYAL PAVILION, BRIGHTON, ENGLAND
(Right:) THE PALACE OF FINE ARTS, SAN FRANCISCO

Recently I discovered a delightful book of architectural drawings of one man whose sense of humor has brought to life sketches of new ways of seeing old architecture in our day as well as projections of how future generations might view OUR styles, particularly those of North-American suburbia. The book is called Great Moments in Architecture, and its author (artist) is David MacAulay. "Great," in deed!

SUCH AS ASTROTURF, VINYL SIDING, STAPLES, STYROFOAM
BEAMS, SIMULATED WOOD, BRIQUETTES, PLASTIC PLANTS, ETC.
BRAVO!
